Director Background

About the Director - Magaly Cajigas   

Magaly is a Connecticut native and life long resident of the City of New Haven. 

Through her perseverance and love for education she has succeeded in every goal she has set for herself.  She knows that with this pageant she will inspire many teenagers and young women and men to achieve their goals no matter what obstacles lay in the way.  

A wife, and working mom, Magaly and her husband Heriberto have been married for ten years. Their union was blessed with one child -Alanna. The couple draws strength from each other in order to persevere in their professional and educational goals.  Magaly has her Bachelor's in Corporate Communication from Southern CT State University and her Master's degree in Public Administration from Walden University.

Magaly's desire to help started from grass-roots development work which she did for a children’s non-profit group (L.E.A.P. program) through her work at Yale-New Haven Hospital as their Patient Representative for the Children’s Hospital to her current job, Magaly has kept her lifelong commitment to assisting others. Presently she is at Housatonic Community College Foundation raising funds for those students who are most in need and assisting them in their dream of graduating.

In the realm of pageants Magaly has held the title of Ms. Puerto Rico of New Haven, CT 1992, and Mrs. Puerto Rico of Connecticut 2005.  She sits on the Areyto, Inc. Puerto Rican Parade Board and also on the Miss Black USA - New Jersey Advisory Board. 

The ultimate goal with this pageant is to transform these contestants into future Latino leaders that will make an impact in their communities.
